Is it possible to lose weight without working out? In short, yes. It is entirely possible to shed unwanted pounds without exercising. But before you sign up for a gym membership for good, let me first explain what your TDEE is, and then cancel your membership.
Your TDEE or total daily energy expenditure is simply your total amount of calories you burn in a day. Your RMR determines this, but in general, TDEE is equal to your body weight in grams. So if you weigh 200 pounds, your TDEE is going to be 200 multiplied by your body weight in g. That sounds easy enough, right? But before you head to the gym to sweat it off, here are a few tips on how you can lose weight without exercise:
Eat Smart: eat lots of smaller, frequent meals throughout your day. Eat until you are full. Eat breakfast. Eating breakfast helps to fuel your body during the late afternoon and evening, when your metabolism slows down, and you consume less calories overall.
But how many meals should you eat throughout your day? Ideally, you should eat three meals a day, one in the morning, one at night, and one after lunch. This is because as you get hungry between meals, your body switches to burning stored fats for energy, which boosts your metabolism even more. Eat several smaller meals to keep yourself satisfied throughout the day. This will help you lose weight while still feeling satisfied.
Intermittent Fasting: Eating something when you're not hungry is called intermittent fasting. This is a convenient, easy way to lose weight. Instead of consuming large amounts of food over time, you only eat small amounts of food very often, like every hour or so. You can eat anything you want during these intervals, which can include fruit, vegetables, or anything you feel like having. Fasting for weight loss doesn't require any special foods, but doing it for a few weeks can give you a better idea of what kinds of foods you prefer and what you can have for lunch, dinner, and breakfast.
Snacks: If you don't like to eat a lot but you don't need to, snack on almonds, walnuts, or any other nuts. Nuts are great because they pack a lot of protein and healthy fat into a relatively small package. You can have a handful of peanuts or walnuts every half an hour or so. However, if you feel like having a snack after 15 minutes of intermittent fasting, it's OK to snack once every half an hour or so. Just make sure you don't skip back to eating a big meal. Snacking often helps you lose weight in the short run, but it can give you trouble later on in the process if you don't continue to eat healthily.
Hydration: If you're drinking more than six 8-ounce glasses of water per day, you will be hydrated which helps you lose weight. If you drink more than eight, you will get very thirsty and lose weight rather quickly. You should be consuming several glasses of water throughout the day, and if you're thirsty, you will consume more than six ounces of water. Many times people who consume larger amounts of water when they are hungry also consume fewer calories.
Exercise: If you do exercise, you must do cardiovascular exercises and resistance training. Cardiovascular exercises burn off a lot of excess energy. Resistance training increases your metabolism and helps you stay hydrated. When you drink plenty of water and stay hydrated, you will be able to exercise longer and harder for longer periods of time, which will also help to lose weight. By eating healthy food and drinking lots of water, you will not only stay hydrated, but you will also lose weight without ever having to put in any extra effort.
